Our Team

The team at The GEM Center are expertly trained in Education, Behavioral Analysis and Social-Emotional Learning. We consistently collaborate with our learner’s families, schools and private therapists for a seamless transition between home and school. We believe “it takes village”, and have a committed, interdisciplinary team to meet the unique needs of our learners.

Laura is a Sales, Product Development and Product Design consumer products executive and business owner with over 18 years of experience in her industry.  She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing degree in 2000 from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, and attended Kent State on a full academic/athletic, Division 1 Women’s Basketball scholarship.

 

As Executive Director, Laura is responsible for overseeing the administration and strategic plan of The GEM Center, and reports to the Board of Directors. Her other key duties include marketing, community and legislative outreach and fundraising.

Laura is also the proud Mom of two amazing daughters, one Level 1 Autism and additional, co-occurring social-emotional disabilities.

LAURA GEHRKE

Maddie is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Haverford College in Pennsylvania, and a Master of Science in Human Services Management from McDaniel College in Maryland. 

 

Maddie comes to The GEM Center with extensive experience in the field of Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis. She has worked in Autism research, Early Intervention teaching, residential programs for adults with disabilities, behavior analysis, and training and staff development for center-based programs. Maddie has also consulted in the arena of Organizational Behavior Management. Prior to coming to The GEM Center Maddie was a BCBA, and the Associate Clinical Director of an in-home and center-based ABA program. 

 

Maddie is a collaborative and energetic problem solver. She is inspired by the progress made by the individuals she works with, and believes that any field where progress is made through playing, laughing and creativity is the perfect fit for her personally and professionally.  

 

In her free time Maddie is the owner of a small greeting card company, and loves to spend time in her backyard workshop.

Victoria is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Applied Behavioral Science from the University of Kansas. She then received her Master of Science in Behavior Analysis and Therapy from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. 

Victoria comes to The GEM Center with over 6 years of experience having worked in a variety of settings with individuals with special needs. She has worked with individuals at school, in-home, residential, and center-based programs. Victoria is passionate about her work and is continuously driven by the growth of the individuals she works with. She believes that everyone deserves a change to learn and grow in a fun and safe environment.

Victoria enjoys spending time with her family, especially her husband and dog. She also enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and exploring new places.

Stabilization Center Manager

TORI TILDEN, MS, BCBA

Stephanie is a Colorado Department of Education Certified Educator, and is one of The GEM Center's founding employees. Stephanie obtained her degree in Middle Level Teacher Education from Illinois State University, with a concentration in Math, Language Arts, and Reading. She has worked alongside special educators for her entire career in a co-taught classroom.  

 

Stephanie has worked with students from a variety of backgrounds including gifted & talented children, children with disabilities, inner-city youth, and children with English as a Second Language. She is passionate about helping her learners become successful life-long learners through alternate methods of teaching. Stephanie believes that teaching cannot be approached with a "one size fits all" mentality, because every child deserves an education that is personalized and treats them as an individual.

Stephanie loves to spend time with her family, especially her husband and young daughter.

Stephanie Fenton

Beatriz is currently a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). She has a Dual Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Psychology and Chicano/a studies from the University of California Santa Barbara, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Special Education with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis from the University of Northern Colorado. Beatriz holds Registered Behavior Technician credentials from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

Beatriz comes to The GEM Center with experience working in with children with Autism in both school and centers. She enjoys developing programming to scaffold learners and watching them grow and flourish. 

Beatriz loves spending time with her family, especially her husband and young daughter. As a family they enjoy hiking, going to the zoo or the aquarium, planning family cookouts and going on vacation. She also loves to run and dance.

Lead Registered Behavior Technician

BEATRIZ CANO

Laura is a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and is one of The GEM Center’s founding employees. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communications from North Dakota State, and holds Registered Behavior Technician credentials from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).  

 

Laura comes to The GEM Center with extensive experience working in pre-school and elementary classrooms. She loves to make a positive difference in the lives of the remarkable kids that we serve at GEM, and believes that every kid deserves an opportunity to grow and thrive in a happy and safe environment.  

 

Laura has three children, and she and her husband enjoy watching their boys play hockey. She also likes to read, shop, and garden.

Elizabeth is a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Family Life Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education from Samford University in Alabama, and holds Registered Behavior Technician credentials from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). 


Elizabeth comes to The GEM Center with over five years’ experience working with children with a variety of special needs. She is passionate about watching and helping our learners discover skills that they did not know that they had, and helping them discover how amazing the world around them is.  

 

Elizabeth enjoys going to the movies, rock climbing, traveling, playing with dogs, cooking and eating the delicious food she makes.

ELIZABETH SMITH

Alex is a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with a minor in Education from the University of Colorado, and holds Registered Behavior Technician credentials from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).  

 

Alex comes to The GEM Center with experience in coaching Parkour and Gymnastics to youth around the Denver Metro Area, and mentoring youth who are participating in rehabilitation programs. Alex is passionate about the work he does at GEM, believes that every child deserves a champion and is a passionate advocate for children with disabilities. 

 

Alex enjoys to snowboard in the winter and longboard with his dog. He also likes to play video games, and has fun with Parkour and Gymnastics.

Sadie is a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). She has a bachelor of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Studies, with a Pre-Health Concentration from Colorado State University, and holds Registered Behavior Technician credentials from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).  

Sadie comes to The GEM Center with over six years' experience working with children with special needs, and she's passionate about helping learners discover their strengths and reach their full potential.

Sadie Bondarchuk

Nathan is a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work, is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Special Education, and holds Registered Behavior Technician credentials from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

 

Nathan comes to The GEM Center with over three years of experience working with children on the Autism spectrum both in school and in home. Nathan loves to provide kids with structure to ensure they always know what to expect in a variety of different life situations, and be able to thrive independently.

 

Nathan uses snowboarding and skateboarding as his creative outlet outside of work. He loves to teach kids and friends to snowboard, enjoys any time spent with an animal, and has fun filming skateboarding and snowboarding.

Nathan Burns

Annie is a behavior therapist with almost five years of working in both adult and children's disability services. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from New Mexico State University, and a Master of Arts in Applied Behavior Analysis from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.

 

Annie began her career in 2015 working with children with Autism on the USA-Mexico border, and moved to Denver in early 2017. Since moving to Denver, she has worked in homes, schools, and day programs to provide behavior therapy to both children and adults with various diagnoses. She believes in the right to a meaningful and fulfilling life for both children and adults with special needs, and looks forward to the day where behavior services are available and accessible for people of all ages.

 

Annie is anticipating sitting for her BCBA exam in early 2020, and looks forward to using her unique experience in both children’s and adult disability services to inform her future practice. In her spare time she enjoys reading, playing music, and teaching her dog, Olive, new tricks.
